55 and Flying High... Another Part of Christmas!

Mom checking out her new laptop for her birthday, we got her. 55th Birthday........
Most people say they would never know we are siblings, but we are. We are rarely in pictures together, so I'm glad we have this one. He picked out the great laptop, we both love our mom very much!

It just hit her that there might be a laptop in the box

Jackson, giving a shot for the camera...

She got a little something else to open too.

Yesterday the Lord reminded me how much disbelief can dishonor him, and that He is worthy of my total trust, not just part of it. I read about how Zecrahiah refused to believe and trust God with his desire to have a son even after he had fervently prayed asking for a child. I admit that when I first read this, I'm like duh, how could he not see that his prayer had been answered when Gabriel appeared to him, but then it's like I do the very same thing, no I haven't seen an angel, but I have seen the wonderful mighty acts of God! I have asked God for help, seen it provided and then had the audacity to question where it came from! Lk. 1:12-19 http://www.biblegateway.com/ But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong( drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17and he will go before him( in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared."And Zechariah said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years." 19And the angel answered him, "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news"
Now note the difference between Zechariah's response, and Mary's response to the news that she would give birth to our Savior! Lk. 1-28-38http://www.biblegateway.com/ 28And coming in, he said to her, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you."
29But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.
30The angel said to her, ")Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
31"And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.
32"He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;
33and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end."
34Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?"
35The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
36"And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month.
37"For nothing will be impossible with God."
38And Mary said, "Behold, the []bond slave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.
Both of these individuals obviously loved the Lord, the 2 responses may at first seem the same, but I don't think so. Zechariah asked how he could know for sure the angel was speaking the truth about John's birth. Mary was asking how these events would come about given her unique situation. Mary didn't ask to mother the Christ child, she was chosen. She willingly offered herself to be used by God! Zechariah had prayed for a son. Both these people were loved by God, and had faith, but one's trust was instant the other was delayed. There are so many lessons to be learned from Christmas, but all of them point to the same One Jesus Christ. I want to be a willing servant, not a reluctant believer. Is it possible to follow God, and have doubts yes, that is for sure, but we must strive to trust our worthy Savior! If you have insights from theses scriptures you'd like to share, I welcome your feedback. We can be part of a kingdom, that has no end, because The ALL SUFFICIENT SAVIOR WAS BORN! AREN'T YOU GLAD THAT IS JUST ONE WONDERFUL PART OF THE GOSPEL STORY? IT DOESN'T END WITH A MANGER, IN FACT AS BELIEVERS, IT DOES NOT END AT ALL!
