He Fights For You and Me!

Image found here

The image you see is a paraphrase of Exodus 14:14.  Last night, a friend text me the verse and in truth it could not have come at a more needed time!  My mom was violently    sick from Tues to Thurs from chemo, I got the crud on Tues, my regular caregiver was on a needed vacation, and by last bight I was coming unglued.  The truth is I have given my mom's heath to the Lord on a regular basis, but I've not prayed so much about my own personal care, which with having cerebral Palsy does involve a lot.  I battle shame constantly about other people having to clean up after me.  The feelings of humiliation are at times nearly unspeakable as adult.   I keep thinking that one day I will get use to it, and while it is easier at times, I never get use to it.  I thought this morning Jesus our Savior knows what humiliation looks like.  He knows what it feels like!  He tasted it as He hung on the cross!  He did nothing to warrant such agony.  He endured it out of faith, trusting The Father to bring his plan to pass!   Sometimes we don't know all the reasons God allows things to happen in our lives, but He has promised to fight on our behalf, the problem often comes when we are too prideful to admit we need him!  I cannot change my situation, but I can humble myself and admit I need God!  Admit I need him to change my perspective, I need him to strengthen, me and fill me, up! You need the Lord to fight your battles too, you may think the battles are small enough to face on your own, but like me you will discover you can't.  But when relying upon Christ we realize our battle has already been won!  We know that we have been given a Conquer Status!  The Lord will fight for us, as He did for  Israel, the bigger question is will we chose the path of faith, and rest in him, until we see the results of victory?  I'll pray for you and you pray for me, as we rest in the One who fought the ultimate battle for us!

He Loves me for Real

                                                           Link to image

Since yesterday, I have thought a lot about God's unfailing love!  Then I found the above....  I was in a mood the day before Thanksgiving, and it was not pretty.  When was the last time you mediated on God's unfailing LOVE?  When was the last time you were awed by the fact that the God of the universe loves you and is constantly and continually rescues you?!  Sometimes I just need to remember that I am Loved by the King of Kings!  Not tolerated, but loved!  I sometimes am afraid to focus too much on the love of  God, but the last few days, I've realized I desperately need and crave  his perfect love and rescuing!  I need to lean on his Everlasting Arms, not just in times of crisis, but in daily living.  I've been reading a book called a Place of Healing by Joni Eareckson Tada.  Find it @amazon In it she explains the importance of a godly perspective even as we find ourselves wrestling with questions of suffering.  In recent years I have found myself confronted with questions regarding suffering, so the book has ministered to me greatly in recent weeks.   Note: these profound reflections by Joni were written even prior to her breast cancer journey.  God's love is the ONLY love that does not fail, ever!  Have you marveled lately at God's unfailing love and rescuing power in your life?  Have you worshiped privately and personally remembering all He is to you?  That is a reminder to me that Thanksgiving is not over, and it never should be!  God never ceases being worthy of our Thanksgiving!     14" He brought them out of darkness and gloom and broke their chains apart. 15 Let them give thanks to the Lord for His faithful love and His wonderful works for the human race." Psalm 107:14-15.Find verses here.  So tell me what has your heart encouraged today!

  • I am most joyful at this moment, because God's love is unfailing!
  • He brought me out of my darkness and gloom, and broke my chains!

A Fruit Loop kind of Christian!

Hello Blog-land

So I got to be honest here I wish I were a better blogger.  I sometimes go weeks without posting, and well I just wish that weren't true but as you know it is  Anyway on to what I want to write about.  I've never considered myself one of 'those sheltered kind of Christians, maybe you don't know what I mean,  if this post offends you that's not my intent.  What I mean is, I don't carry a bible everywhere,  I watch a lot of movies that aren't labeled Christian, and I try to stay up on the latest entertainment trends.   I not so secretly roll my eyes, when people imply that public school  is the devil's domain, mostly because my mom works in public school, and I went to public school and it wasn't all bad, much was good.  Recently though, God has challenged and convicted me about some of my entertainment choices,  There is one show I love, and last week it showed a scene with 2 homosexual men in it, which isn't  typical of the show, but there have been hints dropped in almost  episode that were pointing to a homosexual agenda.  I tried to ignore it, because I wanted to continue watching the non-homosexual plots in the show, and I wish I could say as soon as I saw the scene in the show I turned the channel right then, but I didn't.  The next day the image burned in my mind, and so I prayed asking God to help me turn away from the show and cleanse my mind, because I honestly don't want to stop watching the show even still.  I found myself saying:  "God, I don't want to be one of those fruit loop Christians!  But every scripture I came to talked about being set apart as holy unto God.   The next day I told someone I had felt convicted, and they kindly responded, It's not real it's only TV.   On some level there is truth to what they said, but the conclusion I came to is that  God genuinely convicted my heart,   and that while I don't want ever to be fully isolated from culture, and legalistic and judgmental of other people, my process toward sanctification may look and be different John Doe, but I'm called to choose obedience even if I look at times like a fruit loop, as I draw closer to Christ  I may never be convicted by something, but maybe another person would, and I should respect them for it!  Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."  I admit I am uneasy about this going deeper with Christ process, because I what else will be pruned away ?  The truth is a show isn't much of a sacrifice, and never will Christ ask me to sacrifice, more than he already has for me!  Balance is key.  How do you balance being in the world, but not of it?  Any thoughts?Image here

Change V.S. Me blog therapy and real

What change means?

For as long as I can remember change has been hard for me. In my mind when I think of the word change as bad, scary, uncertain and uncomfortable. Rarely if ever, do I explore the concept of change with pleasure or excitement. Most of the time the word change evokes in me, a complete lack of control. When something in my life changes, I'm rarely ever consulted about it.   Change has often resulted in loss – loss of friendships, safety, loss of familiarity and more. Change can bring feelings of inadequacy and inexperience. Embracing change sometimes requires looking foolish, stupid, or ignorant. Change can bring added responsibility, which is one of the biggest things that scare me. I'm rarely ever consulted about major changes in my life. Most of them have taken place before I had any say at all. Granted I'm not open to change very often, but when change happens to me it is usually because someone or something has forced it on me. Sometimes I want to explore change, but with change comes the likelihood of anxiety. For whatever reason ever since I was little, all I wanted was to feel safe and secure, for me that has always meant to avoid change whenever possible. Recently I read a book called in a pit with the lion on a snowy day, which challenges readers to realize that Christ calls believers to live lives of God ordained risk.  When I try to think of changes being a good thing, all these bad reminders stare back at me. Change equals stress.
People around me often make choices and changes that affect me without my input or consent. It feels as though to make a major change in my life, I need large writing on the wall. Ever since I read the book though something deep inside of me wants some type of change. What I don't know is if the change will be worth the sacrifice of security and safety. Change increases the risk of failure. Change to me is like a one-sided coin, I can only see the negatives that change brings about. Intellectually I know that change can result in something good, and keeps life moving and exciting but both of those things are most often contrary to my experience. I often think that my life would be richer and fuller if I were more open to change. Even as I type this though, the possibility of change makes tears well up in my eyes. However, for  the first time, I fear missing God's plan for me as much, or more than change itself.  I'm inexperienced when it comes to making changes, and there's a lot of inconvenience that can be involved with making a change. If the change doesn't work out, then it is wasted energy and time spent on nothing being accomplished.  I hate that change and I have such a bad relationship with each other. Yet sometimes, it feels as though, I am missing out on something bigger because of my desire for safety and security.

It's funny but one of my favorite characteristics about God in then he never changes. He never second guesses Himself. He always does what he says he is going to. He never decides to be someone different. He is steady, Unchanging Consistent, Sufficient, and Sure. Change often means, losing the approval of those around you. I hear all the time that mistakes are not wasted if you learned something from it, and I wish I believed that to be true. My thoughts and ideas are often so black and white that it is hard to entertain the notion of gray. It's hard for me to understand, why God would desire us to embrace change, if that change results in something less than his ultimate plan. Usually with change, no matter how much you plan there is sometimes no way to predict the outcome of any change made. If something is a routine, then you know the most likely outcome.

On the flip side though, what if by my unwillingness to embrace change I miss something valuable.  What if because of my desire to feel safe, comfortable, and secure I'm missing something bigger, better, or greater?
The truth is, I don't even know what changes to explore, I mean how do I know whether or not – God will be honored or that he will give me His blessing? Today though God did remind me, there is nothing I can do to lose his favor or the right standing I have with him through the blood of Christ! I did nothing to earn or deserve his favor, and therefore my actions will not result in his disapproval of me. He may not approve of the choices or decisions that I always make, but that does not change my right standing with him! Even as I say that, I still know that the next time someone important to me disapproves of me, I will still find myself second-guessing whatever choice I make.I'm coming up on a painful anniversary, tomorrow but I also am reminded in that, I''m not the same person i was, and that in the last seven years, I have learned, grown and yes EVEN changed!  Input welcome as   always!

A brief look into my heart! Yes Lord you are!

This post was written over a two day period after church yesterday!

image

Can I share something with you some things I'm learning about the character of God!  As I sip on my smoothie, I am in awe of God in so many ways!  I must begin by admitting that I'm a girly girl!  I love make up, and dress up!  I'm tender and yet strong, when I need to be.  At my very core, I'm an idealist.  I love happily ever after!  So now, you are thinking to yourself, I thought you said your were going to talk about the nature, of God, well I am, but hold on a minute.  I finally admitted several years ago to God and others that my desire was to be a wife and a mom.  I know it  is rather 1950ish, see above!    I know that the life of a wife and mom is not glamorous or applauded.  Still my heart is where it is.  When I was much older, I would day dream about how I would love my husband and children, but when people would ask me, I'd say no I don't want kids,  deep DOWN knowing I wanted children more than air!   Marriage and children are hard and no piece of cake, if it were easy there would not be high divorce rates, and staggering abortion rates.  I know all the practical reasons I should not expect to be married and have children,       When you work with a pregnancy Center and have these desires, it is both rewarding and hard at the same time, yet I need to know that I'm aiding someone in becoming a mommy!  It is often hard me to not want to "mother" other peoples children.  When I was little, and even as a teenager, I would become very mother-some to my brother until I understood he only needed one mom!    The Lord showed me today that this desire I have, though not a bad one is hindering me from worshiping the Lord, and loving as He is Worthy!  He is good and he is right!    For some time now I have sensed the Lord asking me?  T.J.  Do you believe I'm enough for you?  I''ve been pretending I did not hear him. Then today, I could not run any more.  I did not want to answer, because to be honest, if I say yes then, my life needs to match such a declaration and if I say no then I'm I a hypocrite.  So I told the Lord I want to trust He is enough, not just as my Savior, but as my Father, as my Comforter Friend, and Almighty God!  My main purpose is not to be a writer mom, wife, Daughter,  it is to be a Worshiper of the King of Kings, I am to live for his glory, his honor his fame, not mine.  Now all the titles I listed above are means through which we can offer our Worship to the Lord, but often what we/ I tend worship is our dreams, our titles, our wants, instead of the Lord who alone is worthy of WORSHIP.  It's funny, but about a month or more ago, I asked the Lord to make me deeply aware of his Love and Fatherhood to me  as his child and He shown himself to be true.  I asked him to bring healing to my Mom's life, and he has!  Have I always gotten what I wanted when I wanted it, no  praise God!  Over and over again, in the Bible and in my life, God has shown Himself to be sufficient in all things!   Will I still have questions, that go unanswered, you bet, will I still long for things yes, but my dreams are on the altar of God, and there is no better place for these to be!  Whether our earthly dreams come true, or not, God has been enough, and He is enough, and even on the days when we struggle to believe He is enough, he still is!  So what desire is God directing you to continually or currently place upon his altar as a sincere expression of worship? Food for thought!

Who you calling lazy? Eph 2:10

Hi Blog Readers:

I am trying out my Dragon Naturally Speaking program again. So if my posts makes less than the usual, blame it on that. I'm feeling a little lazy when it comes to typing right now, but I figure when you have a voice activated typing program this is okay.  Considering what I plan to blog on today being lazy about typing probably a poor example.  Ephesians 210 continues to crop up in my mind, and it seems that every book I'm reading right now, places this verse right before my very eyes. I will link the verse to this blog, because this is one of those that I can quote and you can easily refer back to your own Bible and even probably your memory." For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which HE prepared for us in advance."  if you know my writing very much, or if you've read this blog very long – you know that normally when I write about a Bible verse I usually have a certain direction I feel led to go. This time, I want your input. What kind of good works do you think the apostle Paul is referring to here? Is he speaking of general good works, or is he declaring that God has a specific set of good works for each of us as individuals?  Or do you think it is a combination of both?  The truth is I don't know the answer the question I'm posing here.  What I do know is God's word is still as relevant to life today as it was when Paul wrote his letter to the early church. I know that all Scripture is inspired by God and that his words stands forever!  It is those two reasons that I find it hard to imagine that this verse is not intended to be applied to the present day believer.  We also told in Scripture to make the most of every opportunity we have. So sometimes I wonder how it is that we as Christians are supposed to discern or know the specific works God calls us to do in our lives, or rather the life he is entrusted to us. Of course there are the obvious general responses, such as intercede for the saints in the lost through prayer, use the spiritual gifts, feed the poor, follow God, and on and on.  Sure all of these could. Into the category of the work God has called us to do, and if you're like me all that in and of itself is enough to keep you busy for the rest of your life. So if I gleaned nothing else from this verse, or have no deeper understanding than this then the major take away point I have is there is no room for laziness in the Christian life.  here's where I need to make a confession… One of my deep-seated fears of life has been either that people would think that I'm lazy or irresponsible. When you get to the core of the matter it isn't so much that I fear others thinking this about me, as I fear that there may be some level of truth to it. Lazy and irresponsible in my mind are two of the worst traits of a person can possess. In my eyes these are she traits that are inexcusable.  Now, no one likes lazy Saturdays more than me, that's not what I'm talking about here. I'm referring to a pattern of behavior that can be characterized by laziness. For me, what I had decided to do is to allow God to determine whether or not this is an issue for me, as I believe it probably is for most of us in some areas of our lives.  I have been reading a book called in a pit with a lion on a snowy day.  I'm discovering or rather being reminded that the areas where I am tempted to Be lazy are the areas where failure is a greater possibility. the areas wheres success is not imminent  or  promised.  Ironically the most freeing thing and the most painful thing at least one of them that has ever happened to me, was realizing I could fail at something I had done my life and still be breathing and able to tell about it.  So what does all this mean?  All I know is it brings me comfort, confusion, Joy excitement, peace, and strength to know that God wants, not needs but wants to involve me in his plans. However,  we may interpret this verse, it's clear that how we spend our time matters greatly to God! So while that answers the basic surface question, it leads us to a trail of unanswered questions that require faith and trust the one who is able and willing to direct our path and finish the work which He began!  Love your thoughts!

Fight or Feed?

Image here

Have you ever found yourself in a conversation that if given the choice, you would have rather avoided.  The fact is most of the time it is not a person's desire to feed our greatest fears, but sometimes often unknowingly well meaning people do.  A few weeks ago, I found myself in such a place.    I was on the receiving end.  It has taken me several years to overcome many of my fears, and some I have yet to conquer, but here is the thing, while people may feed my fears, they are not responsible, for whether or not I eat or linger in the taste of fear.  Will I be driven forward as result of it, or will I be held hostage by it?  I am coming to grips with the fact, that maybe fear itself isn't the problem, but instead not moving through it. is   Some of the great history makers of time, battled fear, but in the end they acted anyway.  Fear comes in many categories, but most of mine are mental in nature.  I won't rehash these, but somewhere inside, I bet you have your own.  So I've decided to attempt a different strategy.  Rather than feeling defeated by fear, I want to prepare for it, and walk through it.  Most Christians know Jesus tells us not to be afraid, and with comes the harder question which we often don't bring ourselves to ask the Lord, which is, why should I not be shaken by the presence  of fear?  The answer is not simply because I said so, though for others that might be explanation enough.  A good parent will most of the time, this day in time, will make sure that the lesson that might have begun with, Because I said, will be followed by a discussion of making sure the lesson is understood not just preached. though you may not fully understand the reasons, here are some.  I cannot help but wonder if Jesus gives us not only a declaration to not be afraid, but rather a few reasons fear is harmful and  where we are to turn when fear threatens us.  One reason I become afraid is because I want to be strong, but I am weak.  Often this I think presents a problem, but then I remembered something.    God does not tell me to be strong, but to depend upon His strength, which He alone has and can impart or give to me. There  is a difference between our illusion of fleshly strength, and God's ALL SUSTAINING, UNFAILING STRENGTH!     "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil."Eph. 6:10-11 Find it here   As I continue to study,I  am reminded that one of the mistakes I make when fear knocks on my door, is that I begin to doubt the steadfastness of God's love and truth.  2 Thess. 3:5 " May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ."  Last I'm often afraid when I begin thinking my way instead of God's way. Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, [1] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Here is a link 2 Cor. 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ..."  So let me ask you how do you fight and face your fears instead of feeding your fears?  I really am looking for pointers, both spiritual and practical strategies.   Talk to me!

Love and Work

Forgive my typing errors...

Most of my life I have LOVED writing, but recently the only thing writing evokes in me is fear.  It all began when I heard a few months ago, about short story writing contest.  I have never written any fiction work in my life, and somehow I thought it would be fun to try, but soon, it became what something new always seems to become to me, It became scholastic, and when I realized I would never meet the deadline of September 1, and that though I've read numerous books on how to get published and the hard work it takes , I just don't have a clue what I'm doing.  Then came the words that forever plaque me whenever I try something new.  "You know you are not smart enough or intellectual enough to do this.  "  "You know you aren't as smart as they are."  "You don't have it takes to compete in the world."  The truth is I can connect with people all day long, I can love people and encourage people, but when it comes to a task that involves a measurement of intellect I'm terrified. I can talk theology all day long, and rarely ever feel inferior, but put me in a classroom setting, or a board room and, whatever sense of confidence I had will disappear.    Then I found this on a website today.  It hit me today, the reason I'm so afraid....  Whenever anything I do becomes work it becomes heartbreak to me.  My experience has been that work='s to perform or prove myself.  I want to make a living one day, but I struggle with feeling that "work" will always be an enemy to me that will sap me of joy and purpose.  So for now, whether I make the deadline or not, the only thing I've come to is that I must focus on writing as a purpose and a calling and not a waste of time.  When you are so focused on how to do something, you often miss out on the joy of practicing something you once loved.  The same thing has continued with my Christian walk recently as well .The more I try to please God by reading, my Bible, Praying and serving, the more I find myself just going through the motions instead of truly loving the One who Loves me without limitation.  Obedience is Beautiful, but can it really be called Obedience if the motive behind it isn't love?            "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength".'MK. 12:30It is found here
I'd love to hear you thoughts on any part of this post!

Freedom in failure?

I admit I'm beginning to wonder if there a readership for this blog.  The truth is no one likes to feel as if they are writing solely to and for themselves.   That was never the reason for this blog.  The truth is in many area of my life right now I feel uninspired.  Several months ago, before mom's latest battle with cancer I had a whole list of topics to cover on this blog, and now it seems I'm grasping at straws.  I'm ready for a change in life, and yet I cannot seem to pinpoint the kind of change I'm seeking.  I have always hated change, because of the chaos it involves.  I hate messy, and I love routine, but lately it feels as though my safe routine is closing in on me.Usually if God wants me to move, in life  or make a change in direction, He pretty much has to shake me to the point of misery to get me to leave a phase of my life beyond.  I keep considering How will I know Lord, when you want me to move? but all I hear is silence.  I often stay where I am, because it is safe, and I don't have to be tempted by fear, because most the time I'm pretty comfortable.  I'm not a dare devil by nature, all my life up to this post, has been driven by a desire for security.  Today, my devotion was about asking God to forgive you for all the ways you are motivated by fear, and in all honesty it confused the heck out of me.  Why?  Well let me put it this way, there are times I feel and think my fears are justified.  Sure Jesus said don't be fearful 365 times, but I never thought it was sinful to be afraid, and if it is well, I've sinned a whole lot more than I ever knew.
In realty though most of my fears are motivated by two key factors.  Pride and distrust.  For example, I have been invited by two well known ladies Bible study groups here in town to participate in their bibles studies, one of which, I was prepared to go to, and then with mom's diagnosis, it needed to be postponed.  Now I'm having reservations about being involved in the future, and It has made me timid about reading the bible.  I fear that I'm not intellectuality smart enough to keep or complete the task.  Every since I was little I never wanted to try things that I was not sure I could excel.  Looking back, in middle school I wish I had gotten involved with debate time in middle school, but I had no assurance that I could excel at debate and my school work, so I never inquired about debate or the school newspaper.  I can't help, but  wonder if God is not giving me another chance here, and if somehow he would not just as honored through our attempting something, and perhaps even failing at something, if means teaching us something.      I guess I have more things to sort through, before I seek the answers to some of these questions.  I usually try to some closure by the end of my post, but instead, I'll leave this question.  What is more important to God, the journey or the success?

A lesson in Spiritual Mathematics!

Sometimes when something hurtful happens in my life, I have a  tendency to check out..  No I'm still here, but this week I've been disengaged from life since Monday afternoon  Oh I've gotten dressed and gone through the motions, but with no joy or focus.  Without disclosing much , someone lied to me, and the lie does not just effect me, but others too.  It wasn't just any person, but a person I've come to care for.  I suppose most people would speak their mind and confront the hurt, and move ahead, but  because of both situations and lack of courage, I rarely express anger towards other people, mostly because I fear losing the relationship.  At the core of me I fear relational conflicts, because it has  been my experience that such conflicts rarely get resolved in positive way.  I have wanted to post, but have had nothing wise or encouraging share with you.
All that keeps coming to the front of my mind is: 1 John 4:4 Because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is the world."  Let's face it we don't like to admit it, but we don't have a clue about the kind of hardships and warfare the early church faced.  If it were biblical to compare suffering, most of our suffering would rate low on the universal suffering scale.  The good news is Jesus does not compare sufferings, but he does want us to keep them in proper perspective.  When I was in Elementary school I told a lie about a friend, and I never made things right with that person, and to this day even though I've been made right with God,  I never had the chance to make things right with this person and help restore their reputation.  Every time I remember it, this instant remorse and sorrow  rise within me.     When this situation happened this week, the thought crossed my mind that may be this is pay back for the wrong I have done to this person from my past or others through the years.  However the bible does not teach karma or that God repays us for the sins of our past, even though there are earthly consequences.   I have to remind myself that the blood of Jesus  that covers me is greater than sin and failures.  Greater is He that is in us than our evil spiritual enemy.  Greater is The Holy Spirit in us than the problems and hurts weigh upon us.  Greater is He Christ who dwells in us, than the sickness that looms within our bodies.  Before you object, I'm not suggesting a name it claim positive thinking philosophy.  In short, here the point, I've lost sleep this week, because I lost sight of the big picture that Jesus has already won the eternal war on my behalf!  I've been afraid to talk to this person the next time we see each other, which will be soon,  , because of the unknown what will happen, if I do or if I don't.  When in fact, I have no control over what this person will do or say, and I've made far too many choices upon other peoples responses or reactions.  So I will ask God for courage and leave the results in his hands!  As a believer, whatever we face, God is already there!  See Deut. 31:8 and Jos. 1:5  What area do you need to know God is greater than the difficulties of this world and the father of lies?  He is Greater indeed!

The gift of tears!

I've had this post in my head for 2 days, but have not written it down.  In my my family, I'm known as the emotional one.  That title has brought me feelings of shame over the years. Don't get me wrong, I get lots of positive reinforcement from my family who loves me so much, however this label, at one time probably well earned is one I refuse to carry anymore   Mostly because there was a time when my emotions were screaming to get out, and for years I wanted to tell people what was in my heart and on my mind, but truly believed that few  people were listening.    Once I was given permission to shed tears of anger, sadness and disappointment, and even joy, the emotions that came seeping or rather ragging to the surface , suddenly I was not as emotional as I once was.   Now partly this is because of God's gift of modern medicine, and a change in the intensity of my circumstances, but I'm thankful that Jesus gave me permission to shed tears, even when everything in me says, "you are weak"  "You are too sensitive"  "you are too soft."        John 11:35 "Jesus Wept"  I could tell you a few reasons why I think this included in the Bible, but I'm not a bible scholar, and I thought about getting some good commentary, but I''ll focus on one single reasons though I believe that another is because He was angry and saddened by the disbelief of the people who surrounded him.  However, I'm not  going to focus on that at the moment.  Jesus never did anything unholy or anything wrong.  He set an example for  us about the difference between right and wrong.  So as silly as it sounds, I guess it could be said this way, If tears are okay with Jesus, then why aren't tears okay with us?  Sometimes I am tempted to equate venerability with sinfulness, and while there have been times where one has followed the other, I think it is finally sinking in that emotions or tears are not the precursor to sin, but rather the use or response to such emotions can lead to sin.  For example one can be angered about the evil of abortion or homosexuality, but to kill an abortionist or to beat a person to death who practices homosexuality as a lifestyle, is both sinful and evil.
I remember about a year after my one major depressive episode, I began to make it a regular habit to lay whatever ever emotions I experienced that day to God's Lordship, and on the days I've done that it has made all the difference
I have heard before that tears are from God from my pastor, though I did not hear the  sermon first hand  and  a wise counselor, but still struggle to believe this, but after hearing it from a SS teacher in a group setting, and then seeing in the Bible through both Jesus and Joesph and  in the Psalms how can I not.  To conclude anything else would be choose my own sinful belief over God's truth.  Does this mean my tears are to rule me, no.  The other night I was watching one of my favorite movies Radio, and found myself deeply moved by the plot once again, and for the first time that I can remember, I was thankful upon this earth to be able to form tears of joy and sadness.  For the first time I thanked God for the gift of tears!          So I'm curious what do you think about tears.  Have you viewed tears as a gift or a curse?  Let me hear your thoughts. What have you believed about tears?  More Christmas posts soon.

Spiritual Boredom? Part I

Image
Can I make a confession?  Of course I can who's going to stop me?  I was not one of those kids that was bored ever.  I always found ways to entertain myself or keep myself busy.  Until recently I never had to talk myself into reading my bible or praying, because as a teenager, I was so lonely that it was my loneliness that drove me to God.  Lately however I find that I'm in a spiritual state of boredom.   The problem of course is me for we know the Christian life is anything but boring, and even more we know we serve an amazing Holy God!  He can never be fully described, and his greatness t be fathomed.    So have you ever faced spiritual boredom?  How did you cure it?
Restore the joy of Your salvation to me,
and give me a willing spirit
Ps. 51:12 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first."

I WILL NEVER & KIDNEY WHAT??

Has it really been over a week since I blogged?  Well here is the deal, next week they will put me to sleep to get rid of a kidney stone that has been causing me problems for awhile.  I had to go to the ER last wed, because of pain.  I'm no stranger to surgery, I have had my share, but I barely know this doctor, and he advised me that even though it is day surgery, it is kinda a "big deal"  So since I'm use to 5 to 7 hours surgeries, an hour and a half seems like a piece of cake.  But I've never had anything done that related to my kidney, before so I'm kind of chicken.  R ember a few weeks ago when I had that stomach bug, yeah I'm kinda thinking this could be related.
In other news, last Sunday night I was feeling lonely as I often do on Sunday nights.  I could give a list of reasons why, but I won't....  The point is I was feeling forgotten and lonely, and there was this ache longing, I just  could not shake.  I could barely pray, but had such intense feelings I can't seem to put into words. but The Holy Spirit reminded me  that God would NEVER LEAVE ME!  The sweetest peace came over me,  I don't know about you, but I need someone who will follow through on their promise to never leave me.  When God says He will Never Leave He is serious.  I'll be honest, this week I'm deserving of being abandoned...  I have not sought God as I know I'm called to...  But He is still God, and He is still with me!  I'"ll try to post a part 2 with scripture soon, but isn't it cool to know God will not abandon us, even when as the song says we are prone to wander

Hello have I run you off? lol  I'm in a bit of a writer's slump, but I do want continue writing on here, so please stick with me!  I want to also encourage you to visit a great new blog started by my best friend!  She is an amazing woman in so many ways, please stop by and give her some love! Jenn's blog  I am reading a book right called Crazy Love  By Francis Chan.  The funny think is when I heard about it, I had no desire whatever to read it. and wow does it have me thinking even though I've only read the first three chapters so far. You can find out more Here  If you have read it what are your thoughts on the first 3 chapters or the book as a whole?  Has the book challenged you confused you or helped you?  Can I be honest, though I've only read three chapter of this book, I already believe my views about who God is are changing in a positive way.   If anything, it has caused me excitement and wonder, and allowed me to see how small I am, and how big God's love is for me!  Yes I know in my head God loves me, and all of us, but when was the last time you were truly blown away by God's love for YOU?  That's it for now...  I enjoy your comments, and do read your blogs as much as possible.

What Are You Thinking?

Hello Readers:
I want to pose a two fold question to you, and I would like your feedback...  I'm looking for your personal response, but feel free to use personal events or scripture as well.
1. What do you think is the main source of human suffering in the world?
2. Does God fit into your thoughts on suffering?  If so how and in what way? In other words, Does God have a purpose in such suffering?  I have  expressed a few my thoughts on this subject some already, but I want to have an interactive blog disscussion with you, the readers.  Don't for a moment think that by the end of this discussion we will have the answer to the age old question, of why do people suffer?.  I promise we won't come close to discecting it, in fact we may raise more questions than answers!  However I believe that if we discuss, and ask questions through the Lens of Faith, we are strong enough to stand, even when we don't get all questions answered.  Our minds could not grasp the answers anyway. n So readers the "floor" is yours!  Tell me what you think?  I'll post more of my ideas another time.   Your input will help in my future post about suffering.  No judgement just an opoion poll.  I'm excited to see what You are thinking!

Wandering Blog-LOVE AIN'T EASY!

Hi Bloggers.

As I'm sure you've noticed this blog has been a bit here there, and everywhere lately.  Try as I might to reign this writer in, I just can't seem to gain focus or develop a big picture.  I am well aware that this is because lately I've been "feeling" like there are few things I'm doing well, I know when I'm going down a road like this it is a slipery slope for me.   In the past few weeks, I've become almost so performance driven that even the "work" I enjoy doing has seem more like a chore to me.  I know that at the root of what is bothering me is a broken relationship with someone I love very much, and yet it is such a struggle for me to love this person most days, I have never in my life bent over backwards for someone, as I have this person  and when this person walks into the room silence between us is unbearable, and I'm utterly helpless in fixing the situation.  The anger that rises between us is volcanic, and somehow years of that unspoken resentment, has led to uncomfortable and awkward silence.  I have prayed countless prayers, sought endless counsel, and cried an ocean of tears, and this week a simple trivial issue, once again left me with hurt feelings and a rage that took me 48 hours to settle.  I CRAVE this person's love so bad, it is like a child waiting for affirmation from a parent.I know no matter what has happened this is an unfair burden to expect from this person  I went through similar craving for my dad, and seemed to be longing for the same in this situation, but the rejection hurts much more, because it is so direct and seems purposefully targeted. This person is not bad, and at the end of the day, if they called and said they needed me, I would drop everything, yeah I know it is kind of unhealthy   Anyway I learned this week that I tend to keep a mental record of the wrongs done to me by this person, or the wrongs I've done to this person.Ironic because I don't hold grudges with most people  So as I read the Love Chapter in the Bible this week, I asked God to take away my scoreboard, and while I'm a long way from restoration, I found freedom in this baby step.  I realize my blog was meant all along to reflect a devotional format, but I must go through the lesson, and work through it before it can be counted as a lesson learned.  Learn from my mistakes...  "Love is not easily angered, it keeps NO RECORD OF WRONGS." 1 Cor. 13:5

Lessons about Suffering Part One there will be more I think

By: T.J. Ellis

You are my Light

You are my Song

You are my Strength when all hope is gone

You are my Hiding Place

You are my Purser

You are The Lifter of My Head

You are The Protector of my soul.

You are Supreme above all things.

You are the Fulfiller of my Dreams

You are my Molder and my Potter

You are my Worthy Lamb!

You are my Strong and Tender Father

You are my Treasure Eternal

You are my Holy Savior

You are my cleansing

You are my Perfect Listener

You are my GOD!

So that is the songof my heart today...

Today I was reminded that God is God, and I'm not.  I know that isn't news, but sometimes I am guilty of not choosing to . walk in the reality of the victory I have in Christ!  I have recently thought a lot about human suffering and the purpose of it.  This morning I found some answers in Isa. 53.  I will never know nor will I upon this earth comprehend the complexity of suffering, but there are some answers I have found.
1.  Jesus suffered unjustly, and never even opened his mouth....  This is found in Isa. 53:7 http://www.biblegateway.com/ Note: All passages can be found on this website(Also Note I've chosen to use the NIV)
 He was oppressed and afflicted,

yet he did not open his mouth;

he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,

and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,

so he did not open his mouth." Isa. 53:7
Of course I''m not suggesting a healthy acknowledgement of suffering is unwarranted, nor am I saying  that we will be able to follow Jesus's example flawlessly either. Please also understand that if I'm preaching to anyone it is myself...   Jesus more than any of us had reason to complain, and he made another choice even as he endured the agony of the cross  He focused upward.
2.God's ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are than ours.  Isa. 55:9 As the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts."
3. God has a purpose for suffering, and He always knows the big picture unlike us, He does not just look at immediate effects and instant outcomes, He has a long range view, an eternal perspective.  Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,[a] who[b] have been called according to his purpose.

4. Finally Jesus always knew God had a greater purpose for suffering.  I admit this is the concept I wrestle with the most, but I'm going to keep seeking and searching even though my limited mind does not fully understand and I'm not sure I was ever really meant to.  Isa. 53:10 "Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,

and though the LORD makes  his life a guilt offering,

he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand."

I have more I'm processing on this topic, but I will stop here for now..  Please let me know your thoughts, do you relate agree or have another take on the topic?  This is a new journey for me, one that is only just beginning

Celebration & Delight filled living Part 1

Hello,

Glad you all enjoyed the freckled Lemonade post! Good news my mom got her drain tube out on Friday, and right now they don't believe she will be needing additional surgery! Thank you for your prayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please praise God with us!!!!!!!!!! She will return to work for a few days on Wed before fall break begins!
I know I have made mention of the word delight before, but think about the word for a minute. We have discovered that God delights in us, but what about us, where are we to find our delight? I don't know about you, but I often find fleeting delight in food, desserts movies, and relationships. I say fleeting because it never last. www.dictonary.com defines delight this way: a high degree of pleasure or enjoyment; joy; rapture. Honest confession from me, I have not been delighting in the Lord as much as I have been other things. I want to delight in the Lord, he alone can satisfy. So my question to you readers is what are some ways that you delight in the Lord? What does the phrase delight in the Lord mean to you? For you what does that look like? How do you make the Lord your delight? Ps. 37:4 " Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." I only want to focus this post on the first of the verse to start with, because I believe it is the foundation for the rest of the verse. I pray I learn to delight more deeply in the Lord. Thank you in advance for your responses! God is indeed so good!
